Governor Ali Bunow Korane oversaw the Mzuri Water Supply Project and laid the foundation stone for the proposed County Maji House, the headquarters for the County Department of Water and Sanitation and Garissa Water and Sewerage Company (GAWASCO). These projects are part of the county’s flagship initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery and building essential infrastructure.
The County Maji House, expected to be completed in six months, will include administration blocks for technical and non-technical staff, multifunctional areas, boardrooms, conference halls, and public lounges.
The Mzuri Water Supply Project features three boreholes, a 300,000-litre elevated steel tank, and a 7km water pipeline. Upon completion, it will provide reliable water supply to seven settlements in Garissa town, including Tawakal, Rahma, and Mzuri, addressing perennial water shortages and meeting the growing demand.
Over the past three years, the county administration has successfully drilled 71 boreholes across the county. Other completed office infrastructure projects include the County Headquarters, Afya House, and Sub-County Headquarters in Ijara and Fafi sub-counties.
