Garissa County Scholarship Fund Launch

Governor Ali Bunow Korane officially launched the Garissa County Scholarship Fund at Garissa Library, establishing a KShs. 60 million fund to support 2,243 students in 101 colleges and universities. The fund was publicly launched to ensure transparency and accountability and was distributed fairly by the County Scholarship Committee.

Scholarship allocation by sub-county:

Hulugho: 324 students

Ijara: 340 students

Township: 429 students

Dadaab: 276 students

Lagdera: 283 students

Balambala: 308 students

Fafi: 283 students

The initiative is intended to ease the financial burden on parents, promote access to higher education, and reflects the administration’s commitment to increasing scholarship allocations in future financial years.
