On 13th September 2025, I proudly joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), marking the beginning of my journey to serve the people of Garissa County.Alongside national leaders, local leaders, community elders, and supporters, I shared my vision for a brighter, stronger, and more united Garissa — a county where every citizen has a voice and every opportunity is within reach. This is more than a campaign; it’s a movement to restore hope, dignity, and progress for our people.

Experienced leader with a distinguished career in public service and governance
H.E Ali Bunow Korane is a results-oriented strategic leader with over 35 years of progressive responsibility in public administration, national security, peacebuilding, and regional diplomacy. Known for his calm authority and strategic mindset, he has steered institutional reforms, mediated conflicts, and managed governance systems at both national and county levels.
As Governor of Garissa County, he led transformative governance in one of Kenya's most underserved regions, championing peacebuilding, service delivery, and inclusive development while strengthening national-county partnerships and global development alliances.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- PhD Candidate in International Affairs (Paris American University)
- MSc in Intelligence & Security Studies (Liverpool John Moores University)
- MA in International Studies & Diplomacy (Washington University, USA)
- BA in International Studies & Diplomacy (Washington University, USA)
- Former Governor of Garissa County (2017-2022)
- Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa (Office of the President, 2012-2018)
- Chairman, Refugee Affairs Committee (Office of the President)
- Permanent Secretary in multiple ministries (2001-2003)
- District Commissioner in six Kenyan districts (1984-2001)
- Former Lieutenant in Kenya Armed Forces, 50 Air Cavalry Battalion
- Graduate of National Defence College - Kenya
